8 weeks – Class starts Saturday, April 16
Classes: Saturdays 3-6pm, April 16-June 4
Shows: Saturdays, 7:30pm, June 11 & 18; July 2 & 9
This eight-session, four-show advanced course will teach Harry Potter fans the improvised longforms The Movie and The Pensieve. Performers will create a brand-new movie live onstage, simulating filmmaking techniques like edits and camera angles, and use an audience member’s hopes, fears, and memories to round out a Hogwarts-themed improv set.
Building on the success of the monthly Harry Potter: Improvised at The Experiment Comedy Gallery, this class will teach you genre improv, an entirely new set of improv skills, and character skills, as well as good audience interaction.
Students will be expected have a love of Harry Potter and to discuss Harry Potter each week.
The class will be held for eight weeks at The Experiment Comedy Gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn (20 Broadway, Brooklyn, NY 11249; L train to Bedford Avenue, J/M/Z to Marcy Avenue). Graduation shows will be scheduled to coincide with the summer’s coming superhero films, also at The Experiment.
