CANCELED - Improvised Performance: Harry Potter - 7pm Mondays - SF
This 8-week class teaches intermediate-advanced students how to create a never-before-seen Harry Potter movie live onstage.
Using the Movie form, students will develop their collaboration, support work, and stagecraft to present a surprisingly realistic experience of watching a movie. In-depth knowledge of the Wizarding World not required.
The class will culminate with a graduation performance (TBA) with the goal of creating a running show and festival appearances.
In this class, students will:
⚡️ study the Harry Potter films
⚡️ focus on character, plot tropes, and stage picture
⚡️ play grounded characters with human reactions
⚡️ learn a set of new edits for presentational genre improv
Completion Requirements:
⚡️ Attendance of at least 6 sessions.
⚡️ Students will be required to watch a Harry Potter movie weekly.
Students will be asked to perform improv in a way they may never have been asked before, a method that will at times feel counter-intuitive. Students should therefore be interested in pushing themselves as performers.
Prerequisites: Must have completed at least two classes with an improv program.
Scheduled: Mondays 7-10 pm
Dates: Jan. 6, 13, 27 (skips MLK Day); Feb. 3, 10, 17, 24; Mar. 2
Price: $300
Sessions: 8 sessions, 3 hours each
Location: Ferment.Drink.Repeat
