This eight-week class teaches intermediate-advanced students how to use an interview opening and focus on playing realistically to reveal weirdness beneath the surface.. All scenes in the show will take place in one large location within an audience member's hometown.
This class will culminate with a graduation performance with the goal of creating a running show and festival appearances.
In this class, students will:
⚡️ learn to relax in an improv scene
⚡️ focus on character, location, and object work
⚡️ play grounded characters with human reactions
⚡️ learn how to separate story and structure in improv
Completion Requirements:
⚡️ Attendance of at least 6 sessions
⚡️Attendance can be made up for free via drop-in classes
Prerequisites: Must have completed at least two classes with an improv program.
Schedule: Sundays 12-3 pm - 8 sessions, 3 hours each (with a break)
Dates: Feb. 23, March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, April 5, 19 (skips Easter)

Chris Griswold is the founder and academic director of Thunderbolt Comedy.
A performer and teacher for more than 20 years, Chris has worked with hundreds of groups and thousands of students. He has taught in-person and remotely with solo clients and groups worldwide.
His students have gone on to write, direct, or star in such things as The Simpsons, Saturday Night Live, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Three Busy Debras, Silicon Valley, New Girl, The President Show, Inside Amy Schumer, and Broadways’ Stuffed.
Chris trained extensively with the Upright Citizens Brigade Training Center and the Annoyance Theater. He worked as registrar and diversity liaison at the UCB Training Center and was a house performer at Annoyance. Chris writes and acts, appearing in a variety of comedy videos, commercials, and PSAs and co-writing TEDx Talks.
Chris teaches private workshops for business and conferences in topics such as branding, team-building, and creativity training. He is available for private coaching in relational and social skills for public speaking, networking, and dating.
He is currently writing a book on improv.
