This 4-week intensive class teaches intermediate-advanced students how to create a romantic comedy live onstage, using the Movie form.

The Movie develops collaboration and support work to create a surprisingly believable experience of watching a movie, improvised live onstage.

This class will culminate in a Valentine’s Day-themed graduation performance (TBA) with the goal of creating a running show.

In this class, students will:
⚡️ study the romantic comedy film genre
⚡️ focus on character, plot tropes, and stage picture
⚡️ play grounded characters with human reactions
⚡️ learn a set of new edits for presentational genre improv

Students will be asked to perform improv in a way they may never have been asked before, a method that will at times feel counter-intuitive. Students should therefore be interested in pushing themselves as performers.

Completion Requirements:
⚡️ Attendance of at least 3 sessions including the first and the last.
⚡️ Students will be required to watch a romantic comedy weekly.

Scheduled Dates:
Jan. 12, 26 (skips MLK Day)
Feb. 2, 9
